Media [June1-7]

Media, June 1–7
Radio Lumière reaches more than 90 percent of Haiti with Christian broadcasting.

“It is evident to me that Radio Lumière is operated under the direction of the Holy Spirit,” shared one station listener. “It goes forth with power and the ability to help in transforming desperate lives into lives for God. I am in prison for kidnapping, condemned to life in prison. Radio Lumière is a prison preacher! Through it, I came to know the unconditional, infinite, and great love of God. I am pleased to tell you that I have turned from my sins and received His forgiveness while incarcerated.”
Prayer
  • Praise God for the gift of media. This tool is reaching the lost, even those in prison, with the gospel.
  • Pray for those who serve in media ministries. They often carry multiple responsibilities with keeping equipment operating and working long hours.
  • Pray that God will join the hearts of those who understand the importance of media in ministry with those serving to strengthen their roles in the Great Commission through partnership.

Member Health [May 25-31]

Member Health, May 25–31
Mike Banks was in Oregon visiting missionary kid Chris Stanfield at college. God had timed the visit perfectly; Mike received a call that Chris’ aunt had died unexpectedly and took Chris to his parents’ house so they could process the tragedy as a family.

A missionary mom was worried that her child might have a learning disability. Frank and Sharon Martin, pastors to missionaries, were visiting and Sharon used her education background to assure the mom that her child was fine and just learned in a different way.
For the Member Health team, it’s a joy to serve as pastors and caregivers to people who are changing this world for Christ.
Prayer
  • Pray that WGM’s Member Health team will be God’s hands as they comfort, encourage, cry with, and laugh with missionaries and missionary kids around the globe.
  • Pray for protection over the Member Health team as they travel.
  • Please pray that the Lord will send people to minister to the Member Health team, equipping them to minister to others.
Pray!PRAY: Father, thank You for the work You are doing through WGM’s Member Health team. We praise You for Your perfect timing as you lead Mike, Frank, Sharon, Ned, and Marlene to the missionaries and missionary kids who need encouragement. Protect them as they travel many miles, and give them the strength they need to invest in the lives of Your workers around the world. Give them wisdom to counsel, ears to listen, and hearts to understand. Amen.

Support Ministries [May 18-24]

Support Ministries, May 18–24
Jim Newman is wedged in the tail section of a small airplane, headlamp on, making adjustments on a new part he’s installing. It’s warm in the hangar at Missionary Maintenance Services in Coshocton, Ohio, where airplanes from over 100 Christian organizations have been repaired and serviced.

Jim and his wife, Mary, are seconded to MMS from World Gospel Mission. They spent five years in Bolivia, working with Wings of Peace aviation ministry. When that ministry came to an end, Jim and Mary felt the Lord leading them to continue in aviation ministry. Jim now diagnoses problems and provides practical solutions for planes that fly all over the world for missions.
Prayer
  • Pray that missionaries serving in support ministries will embrace their behind-the-scenes role in the Great Commission and that they will have a strong support base of ministry partners who understand that role.
  • Pray for Missionary Maintenance Services, which repairs airplanes for missions organizations around the world.
  • Pray for protection and strength for the WGM support staff as they work in a variety of capacities to serve missionaries and advance the cause of missions worldwide.

Medical Ministries [May 11-17]

Medical Ministries—May 11–17
Medical ministries are meeting the physical and spiritual needs of people around the world. The story of a man named Armando in Honduras highlights the importance of this life-saving cause.

Armando faced a crippling physical illness, which doctors assured him was incurable. He had essentially given up on life until someone from Forever Friends Church in Choluteca introduced him to the Lord. Armando turned his physical needs over to God and was soon walking without difficulty. Now he wants to help others with physical problems find that same hope. He began working full time in the construction of the Forever Friends clinic buildings and now serves as the clinic’s full-time chaplain!
Prayer
  • Pray for patients who seek medical care through one of these ministries. Pray for opportunities for the staff to share the message of the Great Physician.
  • Pray that staffing needs will be met, so that the best possible level of care can be provided.
  • Pray for healthcare workers who are being trained at these ministries. Pray that they will learn the skills they need to reach out to their own communities.
Act!ACT: Want to have a part in being the hands and feet of Christ? Medical missions touches lives in a unique way and presents powerful opportunities to share the gospel. The Great Co-Mission Catalog has medical projects ready for you to take on!

Community Health and Development [May 4-10]

Community Health and Development—May 4–10
In partnership with the Sudanese-led In Deed and Truth (IDAT) team, Mango Ministries in South Sudan provides medical care and other basic needs and encourages local churches to care for their communities.
After a mobile clinic, a pastor named Paul who had been in the Bible Storytelling training told a Bible story that he had learned on his own, not from the training. Afterward, a young man asked an IDAT teammate, “How can I be like Pastor Paul? I love it when he shares a Bible story, because it is so good.”
Mango Ministries works person by person and church by church to transform lives and encourage healthy living—both physically and spiritually.
Prayer
  • May the Lord’s transforming grace continue to change lives through the sharing of His love in word and deed.
  • Pray for strength as national Christians are empowered to reach their own people one person, one village, and one church at a time.
  • Pray for safety as many community health and development projects include a lot of traveling, construction, and medical care.
GoGO: Are you gifted in construction? Can you pack a sack lunch? Do you simply love people? Contact teams@wgm.org to schedule a trip to one of the ministries listed on these pages. They need your help and are waiting for you!
